Premise of Tarak Mehta ka ooltah chashma :

The series occur in gokuldham co-operative housing society. It is an apartment complex in powder Gali in Mumbai, film city road , Goregaon east. The focus of this series is on people living in gokuldham society which have different backgrounds.

In this series gokuldham is considered as Mini India.  The people living in this society face problems and solve them. They also highlight many social issues. In most of the show Tarak Mehta saves his friend Jethalal who calls him fire Brigade. He gets in trouble and Tarak Mehta saves him. They all live like a family and Help each other.

Crossover and special episodes :

  • Khichdi is a movie and it has special appearance in this show in 2010 . They appeared to promote their film.
  • In 2010 , Indira Krishnan also came to promote her show krishnaben khakhrawala .
  • Anand ka safar paid tribute to Rajesh Khanna by special episode which telecast on July 2012. The members danced on Khanna’s songs.
  • There is Crossover with c.i.d in July 2014 .

Controversies :

From episode number 3441 , on 25 April 2022, the show faced a controversy . In that episode tribute was given to legendary singers lata mangeshkhar , Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, SP balasubrahmanyam, bappi lahiri . They wrongly mentioned 1965 as year of sino – indian war and aye mere watan ke logo song instead of 1962. Thy apologized public the same day when the episode was broadcasted. They corrected their mistake.

  • In indian television academy awards the show won many awards in years 2008 , 2009 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016.
  • In Indian Telly Awards the show Won awards in years 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2013 And 2019.
  • In star guild awards it won awards for best actor in drama series ( Dilip Joshi ) in 2011.
  • In 2013 the award for best Comedy series ( neela telefilms private Limited ) was won by this show.
